Notes

Abram began teaching school at age 20 and taught for two years. He enlisted in the 10th Kentucky Calvary September 15, 1862, for one year and was made a Sergeant. From 1863 to 1865 he was a deputy county clerk of Greenup County. In 1865 he turned to medicine and started his study with Dr. A. M. Alexander at Burkesville, Kentucky. Feeling the need for more formal training he enrolled in Miami Medical School, graduating in 1868. Abram then interned with his brother, John at Powellsville, Scioto County, Ohio. In 1871 he entered Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for further study, graduating in 1872. From 1872 until 1893 he practiced in Greenup, Kentucky and then re relocated in Portsmouth, Ohio.
