[N1247] She was born out of wedlock, the result of a liason between her mother Delilah and Robert Cobb (1796-1849). She was taken by her grandparents, Samuel and Lillie Whitmire, and lived with them until after Samuel died in 1841. She then went to live with her mother and took the Corbin name.
