Notes
In the final distribution of his father's estate, Waddy received one slave, accounts payable to his brothers David and William, and the one hundred acres on which he resided, identified as Lot #8 on the plat of the 1,268 acres owned by his father in Bedford County.
Waddy was named as Guardian of the estate of his niece Ann Cobbs, daughter of his brother Reuben Cobbs. There was apparently some sort of controversy between himself and Henry Meredith, subsequent husband of Mary Eppes Cobbs (Reuben's widow), concerning the administration of Reuben's (and viz daughter Ann's) estates. According to Bedford County Order Book 14, pp 165..."On the motion of Waddy Cobbs, guardian for Ann Cobbs orphan and heir of Reuben Cobbs, decd. and for reasons appearing to the Court--It is ordered that Henry H. Meredith Admr. inright of his wife Mary E. Meredith formerly Mary E. Cobbs widow and relict of said Reuben decd. do deliver up to the said Waddy all the estate of the said Reuben decd. which now remains in his hands to be administered together with all books papers bonds vouchers and accounts relative to said administration not filed in this Court & that the said Waddy Cobbs upon such delivery do execute to the said Henry a proper receipt for the same." (July 1807)
On 26 June 1841, he made advance payment and arrangements for his own funeral.
