Notes
Gui I de Châtillon was a Champian lord who died after 1089. His first name is often spelled in his modern form Guy. Eld-branded son of Miles or Milon (died 1076), lord Châtillon-sur-Marne, Basoches (Aisne), and Montjoye (?) and his wife Avenelle de Montfort (L'Amaury, 988-1031), daughter of Amauri de Montfort, and Judith de Cambrai. He married around 1072-1080 Ermengarde de Choisy (a14-?) daughter or sister of Aubri (Albéric), lord of Choisy-au-Bac, close to Compiègne, with whom he had:
Gaucher I de Châtillon, lord of Châtillon, crossed, wife: Mahaut de Louvain (posterity);
Guermond de Châtillon, lord of Savigny (posterity of the lords of Savigny);
Jacques de Châtillon (pr. 1103);
Pierre de Châtillon, canon, archdeacon of Soissons (under Raoul le Vert, Archbishop of Reims between 1109 and 1124, and Lisiard de Crépy, Bishop of Soissons from 1108 to 1126).
He was the nephew of the Archbishop of Reims Gui de Châtillon and the brother of Eudes best known as Pope Urban II (Cast 1099) of the siblings, Manassès, partly lord of Basoches, dead without posterity, and Miles or Milon. He had the gift of the abbey of Saint-Jean-des-Vignes confirmed by the King of France Philip (1052-1108), the donation to the abbey of Saint-Jean-des-Vignes in Soissons in 1076.
