In 1752, 1110 acres in Chesterfield County were divided between Matthew and his brothers Ambrose and Thomas.
Matthew's Will was proved in court on 23 Mar 1766. In it he named his wife Mary and two minor daughters, Elizabeth and Mary. The Executors were Richard Sharp, John Cobb, and Samuel Cobb. On 5 Jul 1771, Thomas Bridgewater was appointed the Legal Guardian for Elizabeth and Mary. Thus, it is safe to assume that their mother, Mary, had died since Matthew's passing.
