Notes

Charles served as Captain in the Bedford County militia during the American Revolution, along with his brothers-in-law William and Jesse Walton. He was a Presbyterian minister.

His Will was entered into probate on 13 January 1800, in Campbell County. In it he named his wife and children. He made his sons Jesse and John Executors. The witnesses to his signature were Williston Talbot, Edmund Johns, Josiah Crows, Robert Carter, Thomas Cobbs, James Cobbs, and Moses Cobbs.
