Notes
Anne Marot married Timothy Sullivant shortly after the death of her husband Jean (John) Marot, and together they continued to operate the family tavern. On 18 September 1721, Anne granted a license to operate the business under her new married name. After Sullivant's death (sometime before May 1730), she continued to live in and operate the tavern with her daughters. Sometime before late August 1738, Anne "retired to the country", probably to take up residence with her daughter and son in law, Edith and Samuel Cobbs, in Amelia County where she died in 1742.
A man named John Taylor took over the operation of the tavern in Williamsburg, but by May 1745, James and Anne Marot Shields had taken over the business.
The Will of Anne Pasteur Marot was filed in Amelia County, Virginia, and in it she refers to a son, John Sullivant. It seems obvious this individual was a child of Timothy, but it is not known if he was a product of a previous Sullivant wife, or if he was the son of Anne.
In her Will, she declared she was a resident of Raleigh Parish in Amelia County. She named her son-in-law Samuel Cobbs, son John Sullivan, daughters Ann Shields and Rachel Booker, and grandchildren Edith Cobbs, Anne Cobbs, Edith Marot Cobbs, Edward Booker, Anne Booker, and Judith Cobbs.
