He was originally buried in the Van Slyke community cemetery in Cooke County. However, with the passing of many years this cemetery was abandoned and fell into a deplorable condition. About 1967, surviving relatives removed his remains, with those of his father and sister Ruthie to the Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville, about six miles away.
