Samuel BOOKER #22265

1762 - 1789

Personal Information

  • BIRTH: 1762, Amelia, Virginia, USA
  • DEATH: 1789

Notes

Martha Mumford was called Martha Booker in her father’s will. Her father also appointed son-in-law Samuel Booker an executor. We presume they were husband and wife. On 23 December (bond) 1784 , a marriage bond was recorded in Amelia County for Capt. Samuel Booker to marry Martha Munford, daughter of "James Munford." Being mixed in the record was usual for "Mumford" and "Munford", yet the reference to "James" is peculiar. We presume it was an error. The Mumford and Booker families were close; Martha’s father was an executor to the will of Samuel’s father. Samuel was the son Richard Booker and Martha Brumfield and a veteran of the Revolution. According to the will of her brother Thomas, Martha and Samuel had a son whom we believe they named Marshall Mumford Booker.
