It is possible that George married first, a Sarah Richardson, and then remarried Sarah Cobbs as late as 1757. At present, there is no known date of death for Sarah Cobbs. George was one of the signers of a petition by the Officers and Soldiers of Amelia County, to the Virginia Convention of June 14, 1776. The petition asked that 250 overseers in Amerlia County, exempt from military service by order of that convention, be ordered into service in case of invasion, (VA Historical and Genealogical Magazine, Vol. 15, p.22). George's Will was Proved on 22 December 1791, and names his children, all born in Amelia County, Virginia (Amelia Co., VA, Will Book 4, p.227).
