Notes

In April 1892, Rufus, his father-in-law George Wesley Stephens, and brothers-in-law Jim and Bill took part in the Cheyenne/Arapaho Land Rush. In Oct 1892, Rufus moved his wife and children to Arapaho from their farm near Healdton, in three wagons; George Wesley Stephens driving one. It took two weeks to travel from Stephens Post Office near Healdton, to Arapaho. They homesteaded at Gyp, fourteen miles west of Arapaho, and built a store there. In 1907, they moved to Arapaho and opened Cobb's mercantile.
