[N341] Wiley entered the Civil War January 10, 1862 serving in several battles including Middle Creek, Cumberland Gap, Tazewell, Haynes Bluff, Vicksburg, Jackson, Mississippi, Red River, Louisiana and in Arkansas being discharged January 20, 1865. He was taken prisoner on two occasions and experienced the prison stockades in Mississippi and Louisiana. Wiley returned to farming after the war. In 1884, two years after his brothers Archibald and Watson had moved to Kansas, he followed by covered wagon, locating near Scranton, Kansas.
