A tablet in the church reads, "Eldest son of Henry Cobb, born 25 Feb 1788 - died Sept 1848 aged 60; Commanded the the East India Company ship "Kent" which was burnt in the Bay of Biscay, March 1st 1815, when his firmness and judgement, the preservation of a very large proportion of those on board was greatly attributed."
