Historical Notes

James and Fannie had three children before he joined the Confederate Army on 20 Mar 1862 at Pickens Court House, in Co. A, 1st (Orr's) South Carolina Rifles. He died of gunshot wounds in General Hospital, Richmond, Virginia on 31 Dec 1862 and was buried the next day in the Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond. Most likely, he was wounded at the Battle of Fredericksburg, about 2 weeks before his death.
