[N168] Julius was always active in politics and had once been engaged in coal mining, and was the superintendent in coal for a number of years. Upon taking office, in Jan 1938, he appointed the following deputies: Wiley Hall and Harry B. Adams, Paintsville; Elijah Standiford and Marion Collins of Williamsport; Joe wells, Odds; Alex Pelphrey, Van Lear; Jess Vanhoose, Barnetts Creek; Ray Bayes, Staffordsville; and D.P. Castle, Nippa.
