The manner in which the 1880 census was taken makes her family difficult to parse. It appears she had at one time been married to a Mr. Sevants, by whom she had at least one child, son George S. Sevants, born 1873, in South Carolina. On this enumeration, both she and the child are listed as living in her parent's household under the name SEVANTS.
