This is possibly the Ambrose Cobb named in a land transaction in 1808, in Rutherford County, North Carolina; and, he is also the Ambrose Cobb named as having enlisted from Lincoln County, in 1814, for service in the War of 1812. He was still a resident of North Carolina, at the time of his father's death in 1833; and was referred to in the estate administration papers of his father which were filed in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, in July 1833.
