TITLE Esquire-
BIRTH ABT 1474, Kent, England
DEATH Cobbs Court 1524, New Romney, Kent, England

Historical Notes

Died in the 10th year of the reign of King Henry VIII; his will was proved November 20, 1518-19. (Archbishops Court, Canterbury Dioscese); his IPM was in the 12th year of the reign of King Henry VIII.

He lived at Cobbe's Place at Newchurch until his death. The property then passed to his only daughter Alice who was born about 1524. He was named as a beneficiary of his brother Robert's Will which was proved on February 11, 1509.
He also carried the title Esquire, which indicates the possibility that he had earned it on his own right. It could not have been by the right of John the progenitor. Such titles could only be passed down to the oldest direct male descendant. Edward's father William was the third son of John and Dionicia Bonnington, therefore disqualified.
