[N37] Adam Brevard Wiley, son of Thomas and Jean (Sellards) Wiley and grandson of Hezekiah Sellards, was born ca 1795 near Walkers Station in the present Bland County, Virginia. He came to Kentucky with his parents about 1800 when they settled on Tom's Creek in the present Johnson County, Kentucky.

Adam married in Floyd County, Kentucky on July 26, 1821 Sarah "Sallie" Stapleton. Adam is probably known best as a preacher and the child who told the story of his mother's captivity. He tried to get several individuals to write and publish the story of the captivity, including William Ely, before he got William E. Connelley to take sufficient interest.

Adam is also known as Adam Prevard and Adam P. However he used the initial B in the marriage record. Brevard, rather than Prevard is considered to be correct and supposedly it is an ancestral surname of his grandmother Sellards.
