Historical Notes

At the time of the American Revolution, Daniel was a member of the Georgia colonial legislature when the council decided to evacuate Augusta before advancing British troops. He took his family to Virginia, then returned to the South with Greene's army, and participated by caring for the wounded at Cowpens, Guilford Courthouse, and Eutaw Springs.
