[N452] Bill a graduate of Morehead State University, taught school in the Lawrence County, Kentucky school system in the 1920's and then joined Armco in Ashland, Kentucky. In 1935 he went into athletics. Bill was a baseball umpire in the Kentucky and Florida State leagues. Before moving west he often umpired exhibition games in the major leagues, especially for the New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers. In 1940 he moved to southern Nevada. During WWII he was employed as a security guard at the Basic Magnesium Plant. later he worked in the gambling interest until his retirement in 1962. He was employed for many years at the downtown Boulder Club and Freemont Hotel in Las Vegas.
