Historical Notes

In the final distribution of his father's estate, Edmund received one slave, the one hundred acres of land (he had already released to his brothers Reuben and Waddy), an accounts receivable from the Administrator of the estate, and an accounts payable to his brother, William Cobbs. He also came in possession of Locust Grove, his father's plantation, which he continued to add onto. He passed this property on to his son John Cabell Cobbs.
