Clement COBBE - Will 15 January 1557.

"Clement Cobbe of Brenset in Romney Marshe late of Rye. 15 January 4th year of Philip & Mary. To be buried in the church of Brenset. The daie of my buryall among prests & clarks 3s 4d & poor people 36s 8d. To poor people in Sceltotte Strete 6s 8d.

To Johane my wife all my houshold stuf, seavyn mylche kyne two to yearing hayfers & two twelve month haifers, my grey mayre thelder of the two mares. To my doughter Catheryne Okeman wief unto Wm Okeman £20. To Clement Okeman my godsone sonne of saide Katheryn Okeman my doughter £10 when 20. To every other of my said doughter Katheryn Okemans children £3.6.8 as they come to 20 yeres or marriages. To my doughter Joane Beale the wief of Thomas Beale £20. To Clement Beale sone of my said doughter Joane Beale £10 when 20. To every other of the children of my said doughter Joane Beale £3.6.8 when 20.

To my servaunt Peter Cobbe 6s 8d. To Willyam Chapmans wief of Salcett 13s 4d. To eter Frebodie my man servante 6s 8d. To Mercy my mayde 10s. Residue to Joane my wief & executrix. Witnes: Wm Gybbon, Wm Flage of Rye, Jn Fowler of Gowderst, John Hobart & Gregory Bygate of Brensett, Thos Beale, Wm Okeman, Henry Duke.

Last will: of my landes etc in Kent or ellswhere. Joane my wief shal take & receive the hole profytts etc of my two tenements, two gardens & two slaster-houses set being in Rye in occupation of Henry Kyte, Wm Broughton & Wm Egleston untill my sonne Clement Cobbe attayne full age of thirtie yeres paying yerely unto my sonne Clement Cobbe £3.6.8 & when 30 yeres to remayne to the said Clement. To Joane my wief for her hep all that my howse which I nowe dwell in wt gardens & lands in Brensett called the Codde which I late purchased of John Edolff & to remayne to my said sonne Clement Cobbe forever. To Peter Cobbe my man all my parte in a house & garden at Stapleherste lying by Byrdes herne for ever.

[N2797] He died sometime between January 15th and July 13th. The former date was when he signed his Will; the latter date was when it was proved.
