[N2309] During the War Between the States, he originally served in a Confederate unit commanded by General Sterling Price. Having lost the use of an arm, he was discharged to return home, where afterwards he joined a band of southern guerillas. He was killed in a confrontation with Federal sympathizers, during which he killed three of his assailents.
