Ralph COBB #23699
1752 - 1779
BIRTH 1752, Halifax, Virginia, USA
DEATH 1779, Halifax, Virginia, USA
Historical Notes
Born 1752, he was a veteran of the American Revolution, with periods of service apparently from both Virginia and North Carolina. Ralph has proven to be quite a challenge for research. From legal records(specifically land and court) it is determined that he removed to North Carolina at least at the same time as his parents, if not sooner. From those same records, we know that he surfaced occasionally in Lincoln County. He married there in 1779. He was a buyer from his mother's estate, and he was listed on the 1810 census of Lincoln County. However, no trace of him can be found on either the 1790 census for any of the surrounding states, or any census after 1810. Of course, it is entirely possible he was deceased by 1820. He is rumored to have descendants in Kentucky. This researcher can only speculate that he also went by a name other than Ralph, and that he most usually lived in a household headed by someone other than a Cobb.
