Historical Notes
On February 23, 1793, he was commissioned an Ensign in the 2d Sub-Legion of the US Army. By 1803, he had risen to the rank of Captain of Artillery. In January 1806, he resigned his commission and returned to Georgia. He was a United States Representative from Georgia, from 1807-1812. On April 4, 1817, he filed his Will in Columbia County, Georgia. This Will was probated on June 2, 1818; and, in it he named his brother, John A. Cobb, John's son Howell, and his sisters, Mary Flournoy and Mildred ... the wife of Colonel William Jackson.
