[N1261]
John Cobb, Jr. died intestate. On 28 March 1836, Rowland Cobb (brother) was appointed the Administrator of his estate. Another brother, A. A. Cobb, was named auctioneer for a public liquidation of the estate, which took place on Twelve Mile River, in Pickens County, on 12 April 1836.
The list of purchasers of items from the estate was as follows:
John Cobb, Sr. (father)
Richard Baker
Vilanty Cobb (John's widow)
William Crane
Rowland Cobb
Jesse Crane
Stephen Whitmire (a brother-in-law)
A. A. Cobb
Isaac Murphree ( a kinsman by marriage of one of John's sisters)
William J. Parsons
William Nimmons
Hyram Gibson (a brother-in-law)
Griffin Grigory
[N1260] This time frame is calculated by estimating that Vilanty married John Cobb sometime after her fifteenth birthday, and before his death in 1836. There were apparently no children produced from this marriage.
