Historical Notes

Henry was a soldier in the American Revolution. From the Washington, D. C. Archives records:

"Henry Yeary was one of the patriotic body of heroic backwoodsmen who on the 7th of October 1779 attacked the British forces under Ferguson at King's Mountain, South Carolina. By their valor and endurance, they won a victory which, coming at this time, gave cheer and encouragement to the great American cause.

This great battle is said to have been the turning point in the Revolution."
