Historical Notes
Although he married, Edmund apparently died without issue. In his Will, which was probated on 24 August 1693, he left his entire estate to his three brothers, Robert, Ambrose and Otho. He also mentioned his stepson Matthew Pierce and a cousin Eliza Kerle, which was apparently related through his mother's family. The surname Kerle appears several times in Cobb family records of early York County.

"Mr. AMBROSE COBBS brother to Mr. Edmund Cobbs petitioning this Court for two thirds of all the land his brother dyed possest of which is now in the possession of his relict Mrs. Frances Cobbs, itt is ordered that Mr. Small Timson and Mrs. Henry Tyler meet upon the land on 5 October next and lay out the land into three equall parts for the more planer discovery and certainty of the widow's thirds."
