From the minutes of the Hightower Baptist Association (1867): "Rev William Richards has died. He first attached himself to the Coneross Baptist Church in Pickens District, South Carolina, in 1811. The Hebron Baptist Association in Lincoln County, North Carolina licensed him to preach in 1815 and ordained him in 1818, he being 41 then and 90 when he died."
