After the death of David Cobb, Kitty remained a widow the remainder of her life. In 1838, she applied for a Widow's Pension, based on David's service during the Revolution. At that time, she was living in Smith County, Tennessee. Her two brothers, John and William Bird, gave supporting deposition to her claim for entitlement to a pension, as two witnesses familiar with David Cobb, and knew of his service first hand.
